History:

The Gayville Methodist Ladies Aid preceded the building of the church by several years. They contributed $850 toward the construction of the church. The Gayville Methodist Church was erected in 1890 and dedicated in 1891 with Reverend Colton serving as the first pastor. John Collins and Sarah Robinson were the first couple to be married in the new church, their wedding being on February 14, 1891.
